Short Film: Charlotte’s Red (2004)

Posted on April 5, 2009June 8, 2025 by VoxParadox

Charlotte’s Red is a multi-award winning short film made in 2004, directed by Colin McIvor. It was shot entirely on 35-mm.

The film follows the story of a man and his 7 year old daughter (Charlotte). Charlotte has an amazing talent for painting. However, her father is a burglar. He encourages this talent but deviously uses it to recreate the work of local artists, and then, at night, he uses talents of his own to break into the art gallery to swap Charlotte’s work for the originals.

With the recent arrival of Van Gogh’s Sunflowers, Charlotte’s dad can’t resist the biggest heist of his career.

But does it turn out the way he planned?

Watch the film here.
